She graduated with her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Kean University in 2016. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and maintains current board certification through NBCOT. One of her first jobs as an OT was at Special Strides, a therapy practice located on a beautiful farm in New Jersey. It was here that Emily saw the powerful impact that the sensory rich outdoor environment can have on children from all walks of life, and how it can inspire and motivate children (and adults) to grow, develop, and most importantly, have fun! In her professional career, Emily has completed continuing education to specialize in sensory integration and processing and self regulation, as she believes these are the fundamentals for building successful, confident, and strong kids. Emily believes that everyone should be able to experience adventure and enjoy nature, and strives in her professional and personal life to remove barriers to outdoor spaces and make them more accessible. This concept drove the idea of a non-profit, community based model for providing therapy services in nature. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. She has accumulated over 60 hours of continuing education, including a 20-hour course in kids yoga. She served on the board of Kentucky Yoga Initiative from 2016-2020, and also taught kids programming at various locations around Louisville for five years with the organization. Additionally, she worked for the Compassionate Schools Project for two years, as a part of the Community Approach to Learning Mindfully (CALM) program. He is a long time volunteer with the KYYMCA (the Y) youth development programs. He has a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from Kentucky State University in 2015 and served as a Commissioner on the Kentucky Commission for Community Volunteerism and Service. He has been a camp counselor and a recreation coordinator for summer programs. Along with the Y leadership conferences, being an avid rock climber, and first hand experience of being a former child, he understands the value of both play and the outdoors. Children are matched with peers of similar ages and developmental levels, and activities will focus on building social skills, self regulation, and coordination.
